“IMAGINE” — the Fifth Annual Gala and Fundraiser for the Tim Griffith Memorial Foundation — included a croquet tournament, dinner and silent and live auctions. Thirty-five croquet players took part in the Nov. 21 tournament, which was staged at Beresford Park in San Mateo, and there were 270 attendees at that evening’s dinner and auction at the San Mateo Elks Lodge.
The event raised over $80,000 to support the work that TGMF does with the community — including Tim’s House, grief work and ongoing work around non-violent peaceful resolutions."
The Imagine Gala was a smashing success! Over 260 people attended the special evening event at the San Mateo Elk's Lodge. Thanks to all who attended and supported the Gala. The Foundation raised over $80,000 to continue imagining our future and supporting our efforts outlined in our mission.
The annual croquet tournament saw over 30 participants competing with "Team Spirit" emerging as the winning team. They also received the "Golden Mallet" award from croquet official, Dave Gayner, for showing the most team spirit during the tournament.
The evening program had many special moments. Eric Snyder continued in his role as emcee for the evening, Mike Nevin and Steve Bowerman as our auctioneers. Seven testimonials were heard from individuals and organizations who have received support from TGMF. A vocal performance was given by Patrick McCauley who wrote a special song titled "Spread the Love", in honor of his friend Matt Garcia and Tim Griffith. This year's Nancy Harris Volunteer of the Year award was given to two outstanding individuals who are behind the scenes supporters at each gala. Derek Ytreeide is the creative force behind the gala audio, visual and technology elements. Each year he out-shines the last. The second recipient was Teresa Bowerman who, year after year, solicits items for the auction. This year she took a leadership role and garnered highly desireable items for the most popular auction categories. We couldn't ask for more committed and talented voluteers - we are honored to have them support TGMF, and we love honoring them. Thank you again Teresa and Derek!
As always we thank our army of volunteers that include friends of TGMF, and members of Bridges, Tim's House and San Jose State University Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. They all make the event run so smoothly.
Finally we want to extend a special thanks to this year's sponsors: Autodesk, Riverview Systems, the SF Giants, Steve and Wendy Blum, The Induni Family, Mike Columbo and Paul Mailhot.
We'll end with a quote from a supporter of TGMF as it reflects the spirit behind the "Imagine" gala. "TGMF is the best possible antidote for the overwhelming feeling that there's no way to make a difference."
Mark your calendars now for the 3rd Annual TGMF Golf Tournament to be held at San Jose's Los Lagos Golf Course. The tournament will once again be run by Marty Redman, so it's sure to be fun! Stay tuned to the website for more information.
