The Foundation will not be

planning a walk in 2016

Below is a recap of our 2015 Walk for Peace.

Peace is at the very heart of the work of the Tim Griffith Foundation—we began our work to bring peace back into our hearts and to share it with others. Peace was the driving force for our first Community Walk for Peace on Sunday, April 12, 2015. As the Foundation reflected on the ten years since an act of violence took Tim from us and the Foundation began its work of actively promoting peace, it seemed fitting to engage the community to walk together in our quest for peace. We had over 100 walkers, met our fundraising goal of $5,000, and will be able to send the children from Fair Oaks elementary school to Outdoor Education/Science camp.

The Foundation’s services focus on promoting peace in many ways. Peace comes to individuals and families when their loved ones battling addiction find solace in a safe and sober living environment, surrounded by trained professionals who provide programs to help them get their lives back. Our Tim’s House has brought this to the 60+ young men who have lived there and to their families and friends who love them. More peaceful communities are created when violence prevention programs offer crucial alternatives to youth whose lives are headed down the path of violence and crime. The Foundation’s first-of-its-kind Transition Program for high school students re-entering regular school after being expelled and or incarcerated instills peaceful, compassionate alternatives for these at-risk youth, their families, and the communities where they live.

Peace and healing is felt by parents who are grieving the loss of a precious child when they participate in our Meadowlark Retreats. The retreats help heal and guide these parents during their darkest time to see their way through to peace and hope.

This peace permeates through their extended families and closest friends as their life changes from one filled with despair to one infused with hope. Thanks to the community's support of our Walk for Peace, the Foundation can continue to provide these services and increase the number of individuals and families we serve. As we remember Tim—his peaceful spirit, his big heart, and his love for his family and friends—we thank you for walking with us as we took new steps to bring peace to our community.
