The Tim Griffith Foundation heals and strengthens Bay Area communities by providing support and services to those impacted by addiction, violence and loss. The focus of our work is on healing individuals, families and communities. In service of this mission, we focus our efforts on three distinct areas that touched Tim’s life and the lives of those who loved him – grief support, addiction recovery, and violence prevention.

Addiction Recovery

The Tim Griffith Foundation is dedicated to supporting individuals through addiction to hope and healing. We partner with the Service League of San Mateo to operate Tim’s House, transitional housing for young men, ages 18-30, in active recovery.

Violence Prevention

Tim’s senseless and violent death inspired us to support nonprofits working towards peace in our communities. Peace work takes many forms, from programs that build bridges between people of different backgrounds to addressing the underlying causes of violence, such as poverty, neglect and injustice.

Grief Support

As we have been touched by the sudden loss of a child, we want to provide support and comfort to those bereaved families who have experienced a similar loss. We provide both financial support and direct programs for grief support, including our intensive grief retreats.

In addition to our direct services, we provide a limited number of grants to local nonprofit organizations that align with our goals to focus on addiction treatment and recovery, violence prevention and promoting peaceful communities, and support for those experiencing grief and loss.
